  • I almost forgot!

To say congrats to the Heresa family on the birth of my new niece Jaiden Raine!  She arrived on 4/29 almost midnight.  I can't wait to meet her in person in June.

We finally gave in and gave Kaleo (the other Jaedan) a haircut.  I just did it at home, but we'll take him to the barber to get it cleaned up.  Goodbye baby curls.    He looks so much older now.

  • Kaleo Fix

Here's a quick one for your kaleo video fix for all you junkies.  Make sure to turn up the volume!  Hehe.

By the way, Keoni and John did great at the 8K.  Keoni made the mistake of eating in the car right before and got a stomach cramp, but oh well, lesson learned right?  He still finished with a time of 54:35!

  • April Showers - nonexistent

It seems like the world is coming to an end!  Water shortage, swine flu, earthquakes...

Working backwards through the last month.  John and I just finished running the La Jolla Half Marathon.  Man, that is a killer course!  Through in a 600 foot "hill" at mile 6 and another small one at mile 12 just to demoralize you and that's LJ for you.  But we are done, relatively injury free and we have 4 mos to train for our next half marathon.  Thanks to all our running pals for encouraging, training, and running with us.  And thanks to John's parents for always being willing to babysit the day of the run.

Keoni has also been getting into sports.  He's been playing JV soccer with the 5th and 6th graders.  They didn't have enough kids on the team so they recruited a few 4th graders.  He is also getting into running.  He ran in the San Diego Race for Autism on March 28th and finished the 5K in about 27 minutes.  I think he could certainly shave a few minutes off that time since they started in the back.  His next race is this Sunday. He is doing an 8K with John.  Should be fun and a good intermediate to a 10K!  Today was also track team tryouts and we'll see how that goes.

Nohea is going start doing basketball at the YMCA with some of her friends.  It's not a league, but skills practice.  That should be fun for her since her girlfriends are doing it.  She's still doing hula and her Del Mar Fair performance is slated for Father's Day in the evening.

For travel, John just got back from Taiwan.  I think he got to eat a lot of yummy taiwanese food and went to the original boba store!  Pictures John?  He may go to China at the end of May and I'm scheduled to go to Bangkok at the beginning of June.  Busy Busy.

Kaleo is growing like a weed.  He seems to do something new everyday!  He can string a few words together.  Usually something like "Where's da ball?", or "Ate!  Milk!".  Yep, he's figured out his best bet to getting something is to ask his Ate.  Hehe.

  • Back from the dark side...AKA Facebook

So I've been MIA because I've become addicted to facebook.  Most of the people that read my xanga are probably on facebook and know what's going on I figured.  But then I realized that I don't have any logs of our family goings on except on here.  So here I go!

We spent Christmas and New Years in  Hawaii visiting my family.  It was awesome!  We got to go to the beach several times, played fireworks on NYE and got to see some friends I haven't seen in ages.  Oh, and we ate....A LOT.  Lucikly John and I had some wonderful babysitters that would watch the kids while we got some good runs in.  I was sad to leave and so were the kids.  Keoni came back and started to plan how he would be able to move there when he turns in 18.  He even has a checklist and has recruited some of his classmates.

January was a super busy month for us!  Both Keoni and Nohea decided to join the school soccer teams so every Saturday in Jan/Feb was filled with 2 soccer games.  Plus Keoni was doing Scripps Ranch NJB basketball league so he had a game on Saturday or Sunday.  Add in birthday parties and cub scout events and that makes a busy Rodriguez family!  Also, John and I finished our first half marathon in January - the Carlsbad half marathon.  It was a great experience.  John did super well especially for having surgery on his achilles less than a year prior.  I, on the other had, ended up hurting my hip and have been off of running till just this past week.  But I'm building up slowly, but surely for the La Jolla Half in April.  Wish us luck!

February found me going to San Francisco for a week for work and poor John dealing with a sick Kaleo while I was gone.  The highlight of the week was seeing Chris Bustos - whom I haven't seen since college!  I also got braces.  Yeah, not so fun, but hopefully it corrects my overbite and I won't grind my teeth down to nothingness.  Nohea also got to have some friends over for a "girl's day" birthday party and 2 of them even slept over!  OMG - remind not to invite 15 1st grade girls over again.  While it was fun and made a lot of cute pictures, I just don't think I can handle it again.  Whew!

So March is upon us and everyone is getting so big.  Kaleo is walking, talking, and signing.  Nohea is not my baby anymore and Keoni is going to be in the double digits soon.  Sigh!  Thanks to everyone who got the kids presents off of their wishlists.  The loooooved them!  And to whomever got Kaleo that drum - thank you!  Let us know who you are because you didn't leave a note in the package!  I'll try to post some pics soon and update more often.!
