  • Wow!

So summer has come and gone.  We didn't do much this summer.  Kids went to LA for a few weeks to visit John's family.  We went to Palm Desert in August which was tons of fun!  We totally plan to do this every year.  Yes, it was hot, but it was nice to be able to swim at all hours and the condo had AC of course.

School started a few weeks ago and it seems like 5th grade is when the work really starts.  Keoni has actual homework.  :P  This past Monday Keoni had surgery on his jaw.  It was pretty rough.  The doctor said it went great, but Keoni has been out of school for a week just resting and healing.  He'll be on a liquid diet for a few months.  Poor kid.  Especially since he loves to eat.  The swelling has finally gone down, but it will be awhile till he's back to 100 percent.

The whole family's new favorite show is GLEE.  Too bad we have to screen it first before the kids watch it since there are some inappropriate parts, but they all love the songs in it!  Here's a video of Kaleo dancing to the last episode.

  • I almost forgot!

To say congrats to the Heresa family on the birth of my new niece Jaiden Raine!  She arrived on 4/29 almost midnight.  I can't wait to meet her in person in June.

We finally gave in and gave Kaleo (the other Jaedan) a haircut.  I just did it at home, but we'll take him to the barber to get it cleaned up.  Goodbye baby curls.    He looks so much older now.

  • Kaleo Fix

Here's a quick one for your kaleo video fix for all you junkies.  Make sure to turn up the volume!  Hehe.

By the way, Keoni and John did great at the 8K.  Keoni made the mistake of eating in the car right before and got a stomach cramp, but oh well, lesson learned right?  He still finished with a time of 54:35!

  • April Showers - nonexistent

It seems like the world is coming to an end!  Water shortage, swine flu, earthquakes...

Working backwards through the last month.  John and I just finished running the La Jolla Half Marathon.  Man, that is a killer course!  Through in a 600 foot "hill" at mile 6 and another small one at mile 12 just to demoralize you and that's LJ for you.  But we are done, relatively injury free and we have 4 mos to train for our next half marathon.  Thanks to all our running pals for encouraging, training, and running with us.  And thanks to John's parents for always being willing to babysit the day of the run.

Keoni has also been getting into sports.  He's been playing JV soccer with the 5th and 6th graders.  They didn't have enough kids on the team so they recruited a few 4th graders.  He is also getting into running.  He ran in the San Diego Race for Autism on March 28th and finished the 5K in about 27 minutes.  I think he could certainly shave a few minutes off that time since they started in the back.  His next race is this Sunday. He is doing an 8K with John.  Should be fun and a good intermediate to a 10K!  Today was also track team tryouts and we'll see how that goes.

Nohea is going start doing basketball at the YMCA with some of her friends.  It's not a league, but skills practice.  That should be fun for her since her girlfriends are doing it.  She's still doing hula and her Del Mar Fair performance is slated for Father's Day in the evening.

For travel, John just got back from Taiwan.  I think he got to eat a lot of yummy taiwanese food and went to the original boba store!  Pictures John?  He may go to China at the end of May and I'm scheduled to go to Bangkok at the beginning of June.  Busy Busy.

Kaleo is growing like a weed.  He seems to do something new everyday!  He can string a few words together.  Usually something like "Where's da ball?", or "Ate!  Milk!".  Yep, he's figured out his best bet to getting something is to ask his Ate.  Hehe.
